Friday’s game plan: fresh party ideas

There’s something in the air…

…Maybe it’s my own personal desperation for brighter sunnier days, but I’ve been hankering to throw a party lately. Something about cleaning the house stem-to-stern and celebrating something.

Of course, good parties require a little advanced planning. So I’ve been scouring the web for good ideas. There are so many incredibly talented bloggers out there, not only did I land on a theme for a spring fling – but may have found just the thing for my 40th birthday next June (2012).

Where I found inspiration

If you haven’t discovered Hostess with the Mostess yet, you are in for a real treat. She turns entertaining in to a high art form. While I am not sure I could ever pull off the decorations she seems to create so effortlessly, I do have the confidence that I could take on this one spring party DIY project.

She uses manzanita branches and grapewood decorated with moss balls, artificial butterflies, and mums as inexpensive alternatives for floral arrangements. Simply stunning, right? The best part – I am pretty confident I could pull off those arrangements!

To drink she recommends French martinis. Yum.

For the complete how-to, stroll on over to htwm’s spring party DIY post. She also has some great ideas for an Oscar party if you’re thinking of having friends over for this weekend to oogle the red carpet.

As Rachel Zoe says, “I die.”

The big 4-0

The post that got me thinking about my eventual 40th birthday comes by way of Kevin and Layla over at The Lettered Cottage. A friend of theirs recently threw a “16 Random Acts of Kindness Party” for her daughter. You must go read about the party details in this post about it.

40 is a lot of random acts of kindness, but I have faith my friends and I will be able to pull it off.

Plus I have a year-and-a-half to organize!

What about you? Anyone else hankering for a party? What’s the best party you’ve ever thrown?
