THE BUTTONED UP ENTRIES!

We focused our entries on organizational tools, natch! We love the idea of reusing basic items that you’d otherwise throw away and were all personally amazed at what useful things you could create out of basic TP and paper towel cardboard inner rolls. We hope you like them and that they spark some good ideas for you.

ENTRY ONE: Desk Utensil Holder

Tired of losing pens and pencils on your desk or paying high price for them? Here is our solution using White Cloud Paper Towel and White Cloud Toilet Paper rolls!

Materials Needed:

• Two White Cloud Paper Towel rolls
• Prettiest paper you can find – we used a sheet of alphabet wrapping paper bought for $3.00 at Kate’s Paperie in New York.
• Double sided tape
• Sturdy cardboard from a shipping/moving box
• Scissors

Directions:

Step #1: Take White Cloud Paper Towel rolls and cut to length (make sure will fit YOUR pencils, kids scissors, etc.)

Step #2: Cut a square base from a cardboard box. Cover the base with pretty paper (you can wrap like you would a gift, make sure bottom is not “lumpy” but smooth so it will sit on your desk nicely.

Step #3: Wrap rolls with pretty paper to determine the right length to cover the rolls – be sure to overlap a little bit.

Step #4: Cut pretty paper to size

Step #5: Adhere pretty paper to rolls. (We used simple scotch tape rolled onto itself so the sticky side was out, you can use double sided tape or glue too)

Step #6: Adhere Rolls to base. For extra stiffness, consider using clear packing tape to adhere the rolls to the base. Fill with pens/pencils

ENTRY TWO: Wire Wrangler

Tired of loose wires looking like an overgrown tree root sprouting from the hardware on your desktop or from
your stereo? Well the Wire Wrangler is a pretty way for you to manage the wire tangle – and if your desk is open to your public, it will be a pretty view for your guests!

Materials Needed:

• Two White Cloud Paper Towel rolls
• Pretty wrapping paper – we used a sheet bought for $3.00 at Kate’s Paperie in New York.
• Double sided tape
• Scissors

Directions:

Step #1: Wrap rolls with pretty paper to determine the right length to cover the rolls – be sure to overlap a little bit.

Step #2: Cut pretty paper at crease

Step #3: Adhere pretty paper to rolls (We used simple scotch tape rolled onto itself so the sticky side was out, you can use double sided tape or glue too)

Step #4: Push wires (computer, printer, charger, desk lamp, etc.) through rolls (may have to unplug to do)

Step #5: Tape to back of desk (see top image).
