
Thursday’s Carrot: Change It Up!
Lately, I’ve been feeling like my basic daily routine is just more of the same boring day in and day out.
Do you feel the same way? If so, read on for some ways to break up that monotony and throw some excitement into your daily routine:
1. Try a New Morning Routine:
If you start your morning off a little differently, the rest of your day is bound to feel less monotonous. Get up a little earlier to give yourself time for a morning walk, another cup of coffee, or even just more time reading the news and browsing your favorite blogs. Or set your alarm a few minutes later to give yourself a little extra shut-eye.
2. Get Out of Your Lunch Rut:
Try making your lunches more exciting with new recipes or cute containers. If you plan to eat out once in a while, make a list of places you’ve been dying to try and visit a new one each week. It may seem like a small change, but having a new lunchtime routine to look forward to can make all the difference when you’re in a rut.
3. Add Music to Your Day:
Your favorite tunes can make even the most menial of tasks or dreary of days seem more fun. If it’s possible for you to listen to music at work, create a playlist of songs or a last.fm station featuring music that keeps you focused and energized. If music is too distracting for you, try white noise — as new-agey as it may seem, the sound of the ocean or of falling rain can help block out office distractions and make your tasks more pleasant.
